New York is one step loser to banning cell phones in school. Today during her budget proposal Governor Hochel laid out(明確に述べる) details of her plan. She announced $ 13.5 million would be set aside(確保する) to make it happen. As John Diaz reports the governor says taking away cell phones will stop distractions(気を散らすこと) and return classrooms through places of learning.

Our kids will finally be freed from the endless disruptions of social media and all the mental health pressures that come from it. Under her new plan, Governor Kathy Hochel's saying at least that will have been during school hours. Tuesday the New York Governor announcing a new bell-to-bell(始業から終業まで) restriction on smartphone use in schools statewide.

We're not developing the skills we need because kids are distracted with the cell phones and you know how hard it is for our teachers trying to teach algebra and geography and they're competing with viral dances.

If pass the complete ban, it would include school cafeterias hallways and bathrooms and go into effect at the start of next school year. So our children can focus on the things matter, learning. Many New York parents seeing this as a win.

It steals kids attention and they're made to be addictive and kids live inside their phone and they don't know how to connect with the real world. With all the distractions and with social media and email and everything that they're being bombarded(浴びせる) with. I think it's a good thing. But others worry it could backfire.

I think we should be able to reach him an emergency. In the fall of 2024 the United Federation of teachers released a survey of how teachers felt about a citywide cell phone ban, 63% were in support, 31% opposed, and 6% neutral.

Many of the city's public schools already restrict cell phone use. These high school juniors say they're not allowed to use them and they're okay with it most of the time. Good to like not have it at your side all the time because it like it takes away distraction. And to help back this ban? The Governor wants to allocate roughly 13.5 million dollars out of the state budget.
