【ポイント１】「サイン / sign」の間にある言語表現の違い。

日本語として日常使っている「サイン」ですが、英語で使う場合は、「何かの上（署名用紙や、自分の作品、リスト、領収書など）に自分の名前を書く」ときに使います。

（契約などで）「こちらにサインお願いします。」
Sign here, please.

その画家は自分の書いた絵の隅にサインした。
The artist signed his name in the corner of the painting.

嘆願書に署名した。
I signed the petition.

その歌手は頼まれれば必ずサインに応じてくれる。

「サインください。」という意味で使っている、"Sign, please."の”sign"は動詞です。名詞ではありません。動詞です。有名人のサインは、"autograph"を使います。ファンに求められて書いてあげるものです。
