今日は、"agree"をもっと広く使えるようになるよう、様々な例を中心に説明していきます。（ロングマンとマクミランを参照しています。）

① agree with 　

同意のニュアンスです。
人や、正しいと信じていることに対して使います。

agree with somebody/something　　　人、ものに使えます。
agree with an opinion or statement 　　意見、あるいは陳述に使えます。

例
If she felt he was right, she would agree with him.
彼が正しいと思えば、彼女は彼に同意すると思いますが。

Our parties agree with each other on this.
私たちの党はこの点で互いに同意しています。

My party agrees with yours on this.
私の党はこれに関してあなたの党と同意見です。

He agrees with this view.
彼はこの意見に賛成している。

I don’t agree with corporal punishment in schools.
私は学校での体罰に賛成ではない。

② agree on/about 　

agree on or about a subject

合意のニュアンスです。
双方(または全体）で条件などで意見が一致している場合に使います。

例
My wife and I agree on most things.
私の妻と私はほとんどのことで合意している。

The committee members all agree on the need for more information.
委員会のメンバーは、より多くの情報が必要であることに合意しています。

We managed to agree on a date for the wedding.
なんとか結婚式の日取りを決めることができた。

They have finally agreed on a name for their new dog.
新しい犬の名前もようやく決まった。

③ agree to

受け入れるニュアンスです。

agree to something　　　　　ものに対して使います。
agree to a plan or suggestion　　　計画や提案に対して使います。

例
My sister won’t agree to our mother going into a nursing home.
妹は母が老人ホームに入ることに同意してくれません。

They agreed to all our proposals.
彼らは私たちの提案にすべて賛成してくれました。

④ 不定詞が使える

合意・同意のいずれの場合でも使えます。

We agreed to meet again the following Monday.
翌週の月曜日にもう一度会う約束をした。

The owner agreed to sell the site for community use.
所有者は、コミュニティの利用のために敷地を売却することに同意しました。

⑤ 節が使える

合意・同意のいずれの場合でも使えます。

We agreed that elections would be held in May.
選挙は5月に行うことで合意した。

Most people would agree that a good pub is one of our best traditions.
良いパブが私たちの最高の伝統の一つであることは、ほとんどの人が認めるところでしょう。

It is generally agreed that we should eat less fat and more vegetables.
一般に、脂肪を減らし、野菜を多く摂るようにと言われています。(フォーマルな感じ）
