【ポイント】"together"をもっと使おう。

"together"は、「一緒に」という副詞ですが、日本語表現では必ずしも「一緒に」と表現しないことがあります。

"together"のニュアンスを元にして、様々な表現ができます。
ロングマンを参照して「一緒に」という日本語表現をしない例を挙げてみました。

He and my father were at school together.
彼と私の父は同級生だった。

He’d tried to glue the broken pieces together.
割れた破片を接着剤でくっつけようとしたのだ。

Mix the butter and sugar together.
バターと砂糖を混ぜ合わせてください。

She put her hands together.
彼女は両手を合わせた。

He took the engine apart and then put it back together again.
彼はエンジンを分解し、そしてまた元に戻した。

The model was held together with string.
模型はひもでつながれていた。

In those days the church held the community together.
当時は教会が地域社会をまとめていた。
