【ポイント】名詞の"offer"の使い方。

ビジネスでよく耳にする「オファー」という言葉ですが、英語の場合、日常生活の中でも使える、３つの意味があります。

ロングマンからご紹介します。

① a statement saying that you are willing to do something for someone or give them something
相手のために何かをしたり何かをあげたりすることの正式な申し出

例 
I can’t turn down the offer of a free trip to Milan!
ミラノに無料で行けるんだよ、断れないよ。

His offer to resign will be accepted.
彼の辞表は受理されるだろう。

② an amount of money that you are willing to pay for something
　何かに対して支払っても良いと思う金額

Will you accept their offer?
彼らの希望金額を了承していただけますか？

The company made an offer of $5 million for the site.
その会社は、その場所に500万ドル払うと持ちかけた。

‘I’ll be interested if Newcastle make me a good offer, ’ said the 25-year-old striker.
ニューキャッスル社がいい話を持ってくれば、乗ってもいいよ。」と25歳のやり手が言った。

We’re asking $2,500, but we’re open to offers.
2,500ドルでお願いしたいと思いますが、ご相談には応じます。

③ a reduction of the price of something in a shop for a short time
